I've done a lot of reading on the topic of mental health over the last few years, more specifically on people’s experiences with anxiety and depression. Dealing with similar challenges over the last several years has made it easier for me to connect with and relate to their stories.

Although there are common threads between their stories, no two of them are quite the same. This makes sense as these afflictions often sneak up slowly and manifest themselves in different ways to inflict their damage.

You may have heard reports that anxiety and depression are effecting more and more people each day. But did you know that 34% of American adults show signs of clinical anxiety, depression, or both?

That's one out of every three people.

At such a level, you would surely think we would possess a better collective understanding of these issues and the people suffering through them. Unfortunately, although anxiety disorders are highly treatable, only about one out of three of those suffering end up pursuing treatment.

The Anxiety & Depression Association of America tells us that anxiety disorders are the result of a complex set of factors including genetics, brain chemistry…
